‘When I die, just keep playing the records.’ Jimi Hendrix

British artist and Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey shares his record collection for this month’s Record Club. Working with sculpture, sound, film and performance, ‘his pop references and embracement of technology mark him out with a massive influence on the current generation,’ (Dazed Digital). Mark’s recent solo show at the Serpentine Gallery explored his continued theme of transformation through music, most notably in ‘Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore’, a visual history of the underground dance scene from the 1970s to the ‘90s, for which he won the Turner Prize. For the Record Club he shares some of the musical tastes that have shaped his interest in sound.

‘Part drifter, part dandy, part flaneur artiste... (Leckey operates on) the knife’s edge where art and life meet.’ ArtForum
